Creating value with the use of algorithms and data, but relying on humans for their interpretation in order to be truly effective. This is how the processes and challenges will change from now on, according to Paolo Tarchioni, Biesse's Innovation Director.
We are getting closer and closer to a new digital paradigm: what are the goals of the Biesse on the wave of this new revolution?
"We are in the middle of a world transformation due to the new digital technology available. As consumers, we started to see changes some time ago, while in the industrial world we are just at the beginning. Biesse, whose mission has always been innovation, has started on a path on which it uses the new digital technology to create value for its customers. To this end, we design services and products that represent a technological breakthrough in the reference market, following a Lean approach, guided and iterated by constant data monitoring."
The Internet Of Things, robotics and artificial intelligence are and will be key players in a continuously evolving world. What role will the new technology play in designing strategies and redesigning flows?
"The Internet Of Things, big data, robotics and artificial intelligence allow us to redesign production processes, come up with new services and make decisions based on the results of algorithms that process millions of data in just a few seconds. However, all of this can only create value if we maintain the central role of humans, who must play an increasingly decisive role in data interpretation."

APaolo Tarchioni, Biesse's Innovation DirectorToday we are talking about interconnection between software, services and platforms, as can be seen with the Digital Hub, a dedicated area within the Biesse stand at Ligna 2019. What advantages do these new relationships bring in terms of performance in the production world?
"The Digital Hub at the Biesse stand at Ligna 2019 aims to show how it is possible to accompany the customer through a path that shows the various phases of the construction of a 4.0 factory thanks to the simulation of processes and machining operations, to the software for the design and optimisation and programming of production facilities, to finally arrive at the choice between the services available to monitor progress, increase productivity and all the services offered by SOPHIA. The latter represents the IIOT infrastructure with which Biesse wants to convey services and provide customers with innovative solutions for machine management. The goal of the 1,000 machines connected with SOPHIA represents only the first step of a very ambitious project, which will have to include pay per use services and, above all, an openness towards what we have not yet been able to imagine."
Biesse came in as a primary figure in “digital transformation”: where will we go in the near future?
"A wish for Biesse is to continue to ride the technological process that, in its 50 years, has been exponentially superior to that of the last 5,000 years".
An anniversary that’s more than just a celebration. Biesse is celebrating 50 years, but we want to look to the next 50, when the things we imagine today will become who we are tomorrow. Every innovation ever created has stemmed from a yearning for the future and has since become a stepping stone in our history.
